Not too long ago, we had reported that Anurag Basu is planning to take forward the franchise of Life In A Metro. Created in the form of anthology with over four stories connected with one another, the film dealt with the complex web of relationships set against the backdrop of an urban lifestyle. The sequel to this unconventional film was supposed to feature Rajkummar Rao along with Parineeti Chopra, Taapsee Pannu amongst others. The latest update on that front is that Taapsee has been replaced by Fatima Sana Shaikh.
The reason of replacement is said to be due to date issues. Apparently, Taapsee Pannu was facing date issues with her other work commitments which led to her exit. As a result of it, Fatima Sana Shaikh is expected to have come on board. Sources close to the development said, “Dates were a major conflict and that is the reason why Anurag Basu had to look out for different option for the lead. And lucky for him, he had already spoken to Fatima in the past. So, when dates did become an issue, it was an easy fix for him this time around.”
The untitled film, however, is expected to follow a completely different plotline compared to Life In A Metro. But this film too is said to have an extensive cast with actors like Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha, Isshan Khattar in prominent roles. The yet to be titled film is supposed to go on floor by the end of the year.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu couldn’t really take any strides at the Box Office as the film just couldn’t gain much of a momentum right through the weekend. If Friday was low, Saturday and Sunday weren’t high either, as a result of which the overall weekend stood at just Rs. 23.26 crore. Given the fact that there hasn’t been much of a pace gathered so far, it is unlikely that the situation would change much during the weekdays. One can expect the numbers to dip from Monday onwards and while Rs. 30 crore would be crossed soon enough, one waits to see how much time does the Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer need to touch the Rs. 35 crore mark.
On the other hand, Stree is pacing ahead, and how. The film brought in Rs. 2.86 crore more and with that the total has touched Rs. 119.09 crore. The film is running on limited number of shows and enjoying houseful status in various properties. Blockbuster.
Manmarziyaan was the third choice of the audience and after the second weekend the collections stand at Rs. 24.63 crore. The film’s best chance is to come close to the Rs. 30 crore milestone in its lifetime but that’s about it. Soon enough the film would be available on satellite and digital medium.
Ditto for Manto which collected under Rs. 2 crore over the weekend. Numbers are on the same lines as last week’s Mitron though one expects an even lesser Week One numbers. The Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer may close its first week around the Rs. 3 crore mark and that would be it for the Nandita Das film.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming directorial “Manmarziyaan” will hit the screens on September 21. Filmmaker Aanand L. Rai, who is presenting the movie, announced the release date on Friday on Twitter.
He shared a colourful poster of the film and captioned it: “‘I don’t want to die without a few scars’! This is how I define Anurag Kashyap and his brilliant actors on the journey of ‘Manmarziyaan’, Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu! On September 21, meet the guts.”
The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, who too shared the same poster. This is the first time Abhishek is collaborating with Taapsee and Vicky for a project. Taapsee captioned it: “An ‘insane’ ride is about to begin…’Manmarziyaan’”
Vicky wrote: “Fri-nally humara Friday aa gaya (Finally, our Friday has come)! ‘Manmarziyaan’ releasing September 21.” In an earlier interview to IANS, Taapsee had said “Manmarziyaan” is a beautiful mix of the different worlds of filmmakers Rai and Kashyap.
